The OEKO-TEX® System is modular.

The individual products in the OEKO-TEX® portfolio incrementally address various aspects of product stewardship and sustainability.

Start with your greatest need.

OEKO-TEX® services work together as a system.

ECO PASSPORT impacts input chemistry.

OEKO-TEX® ECO PASSPORT certified chemicals fulfill the RSL/MRSL requirements of STANDARD 100, LEATHER STANDARD, ORGANIC COTTON and OEKO-TEX® STeP. ECO PASSPORT reduces effort and cost when testing for harmful substances to STANDARD 100 and LEATHER STANDARD or certifying environmentally friendly production to STeP.

Each OEKO-TEX® product is modular.

Pre-certified inputs make certification at each stage easier.

For example, product certifications according to STANDARD 100, LEATHER STANDARD and ORGANIC COTTON require that all components of the product be tested, in addition to the finished product.

These modular certifications encourage the use of certified source materials, including yarn, fabric, finished and dyed fabrics and accessories. Existing certificates for inputs are recognized at subsequent production stages to avoid double testing and reduce certification costs for all companies, especially those with complex products.

Pre-certified materials reduce costs and increase traceability.

STeP has 6 modules to assess sustainable production.

Using six modules, STeP comprehensively assesses the level of sustainability and facilitates the continuous improvement efforts of production facilities. Certificates list scores for individual modules as well as the overall score.

The modules also align with several industry-wide certifications that fulfill certain requirements of STeP modules.

Modular certifications lead to a MADE IN GREEN label.

Products tested for harmful substances with STANDARD 100, LEATHER STANDARD or ORGANIC COTTON certification that were sustainably produced in STeP certified facilities are awarded the OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN label.
