Your skin deserves the best.

As a responsible manufacturer, tests for harmful substances are probably a standard part of your quality assurance practices. In doing this, the products are tested for listed substances that are considered to be harmful to health or to the environment.

However even a product that has been tested for harmful substances may cause skin irritations or allergic reactions in persons with allergies or with sensitive skin. This is where we come in with our assessment of allergy compatibility.

In conjunction with traditional tests for harmful substances, such as the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, you can thus offer your customers maximum safety and position your products in the premium segment.

Tap into new target groups.

According to current estimates, around 15 percent of Germans suffer from contact allergies of the skin. These allergies and skin irritations are mainly triggered by chemicals, metals and fragrances. The number of persons who have a tendency to suffer from mechanically or chemically triggered irritations due to their sensitive skin is even higher. If you can position your products as allergy-compliant, your company can tap into this ever-growing target group.

With our standardized investigations, we can evaluate whether products are suitable for persons with allergies or with sensitive skin. Our independent test results also form the best basis for winning and establishing the trust of your customers. By using our Hohenstein Quality Label, you can prove the allergy-compliant effect to your customers in a way that is easy to understand and which can be advertised.

Benefit from our assessment of allergy compliance.

Around 5,000 pure chemicals are used around the world in the production and finishing of textiles. If they are used in the customary and permitted concentrations, these finishes on textile surfaces usually have no effect on “normal” skin. However, persons with allergies and sensitive skin have a much more intense reaction to specific ingredients. The accumulation of individual substances within a product can also exceed the sensitization threshold, which can lead to redness, irritation or blisters in the affected person.

With our effect-based test methods, we can give you neutral evidence of the sensitizing effect of textiles. In doing this, we determine the allergy-triggering risk potential of the textiles in the form of a sum parameter. This means that we consider the overall effect, not just individual substances. We use the same process when testing cell-damaging substances using skin cells.

Make a mark for the skin of your customers.

The Hohenstein Quality Label is issued exclusively for products of outstanding quality that we evaluate on the basis of internationally recognized test methods. Benefit from the positive effect of our label and market your products as particularly suitable for persons with allergies and sensitive skin.
