The market for compression textiles is growing and Hohenstein has decades of experience as a pioneer in testing compression - for medical and performance applications.
Textiles used in healthcare must meet extremely high standards. As an authorized test center for the Medical Compression Hosiery e.V. German Certification Association, our tests provide professional and neutral proof of the effectiveness of your medical compression products. Hohenstein certifies medical compression according to RAL-GZ 387, parts 1 and 2, or DIN 58133.
We measure the pressure of compression devices with our specially developed HOSYcan testing device to measure the pressure intensity and compression profile, compare materials and designs and analyze recovery rate.
We check the (gradually decreasing, increasing or constant) pressure profile of a textile for specific body parts. The best profile depends on the desired effect of the textile.
We test the entire length of an object up to 100 cm long and 12 - 150 cm in almost any shape.
- Medical compression arm bandages with hosiery systems
- Bandages for ankles, knees, elbows and wrists
- Devices for treatment of venous and lymphatic illnesses (varicose veins, chronic vein insufficiency, ulcus cruris)
- Anti-thrombosis socks
- Compression stockings and travel socks
- Shapewear, sportswear and socks
Hohenstein developed the HOSY testing device in the early 80s. The device consisted of adjacent tenstile testing devices that clamp and (non-destructively) stretch the textile or garment. The result - the pressure exerted by the textile over the entire sample length was graphed.
Improvements in pressure intensity and the pressure profile measurement capabilites have been added with technology updates. The latest HOSYcan (Hohenstein system + CAN bus technology) measures the recovery rate/compression after customizable periods of stretch and can evaluate the compression effect in motion when integrated with 3D scanning.
As an authorized testing laboratory for the German Certification Association for Medical Compression Hosiery, we offer testing and certifiation according to RAL-GZ 387/1 or 387/2.
