Test Criteria
Hohenstein developed an innovative test method for measuring and evaluating sleeping comfort.
Our comfort testing method simulates real-life use of the entire bedding construction (material, pattern, quilting, body adaption). Using sweating, thermal manikins, we determine the sleeping comfort (heat and moisture management) of duvets and bedding systems:
- Breathability rating (minimum 3 of 5 stars) is shown on the product label
- Effective thermal insulation is classified by season so customers can easily identify the desired thermal comfort

For product development: To determine material specific values of each layer construction (such as thermal and water vapor resistance, water vapor absorbency and buffering capacity of water vapor), additional tests can be conducted with the Hohenstein Skin Model according to DIN EN ISO 11092.
